Run The Great Eastern for Thorpe Hall and The Old Palace.
24 June 2008
Runners are already gearing themselves up for the city’s premier running event, the Great Eastern Run. And Sue Ryder Care is encouraging people to sign up to its team to raise funds for those it cares for. This is the third year that the charity has taken part in the run, to be held on Sunday October 12th, to raise vital funds for those living with conditions like Multiple Sclerosis, Acquired Brain Injuries and Cancer. Fundraiser Nigel Cole said, “Last year, 96 people ran for Sue Ryder Care and we really want to beat that this year. And it would be great if we could have the biggest team in the race. You choose the distance – 5k or a half marathon. We’re looking for lots of local people to step forward and sign up, so please get in touch today if you’d like to take part. ” Runners will be given a professional running vest, fundraising pack, training tips, and telephone and email support. On the day of the race, Sue Ryder Care will be there to support you with the loudest cheering team, a goody bag, a rub down from a physio at the end of the race and a glass of bubbly to celebrate your achievement.Sue Ryder Care provides specialist palliative and neurological care across the UK, as well as community-based services. Sue Ryder Care can be found at Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough and The Old Palace in Ely. For further information and to take part in the event, call Nigel Cole on 01733 330060 or email fundraising@suerydercare.org.
