TV presenter Linda Barker is to walk 24.5 miles across Yorkshire's Three Peaks in aid of Sue Ryder Care. Linda, who is originally from Shelf, and her pet dog Tiger Lilly, will start in Horton at Ribblesdale and trek across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Our brilliant Yorkshire committee is a group of local professionals who work together to raise money and awareness through organised events and they have organised the walk, which is also being supported by Masham brewer T&R Theakston. 17 of the committee’s members will join Linda on the challenge.
Linda said: "We are all really looking forward to the challenge, especially Tiger Lilly. As a dachshund she has a lovely lively nature and even though her legs are little, and she will have to take 20 paces to every one of mine, we believe she will be the first of her breed to complete the three peaks."
Anne Salisbury, organiser and chairman of the Yorkshire committee, said: "Sue Ryder Care aims to help people by providing both neurological and hospice care both in care centres and in the community. The charity currently provides 4 million hours of care a year and needs generous financial support from the community to help it increase these hours to 10 million by 2018."
The trek takes place on Saturday June 7.
