Anton Lawrence takes on the 3 Peaks Yacht challenge for

21 May 2008

A Reading man has decided to take on the 3 Peaks Yacht Race for the second time.

Anton Lawrence 34 from Tilehurst, Reading has decided to take part in one of the greatest adventure challenges in Britain. The race encompasses 389 miles of difficult coastal sailing, 18 miles of cycling and 72 miles of running, with 14,000 feet of ascent to reach the highest points in Wales, England and Scotland.

Anton from the Reading University IT Services said; “I will be raising money for Sue Ryder Care. Last year a friend and colleague, Theresa Bateman of the Finance team, sadly passed away from cancer, and Sue Ryder Care provided her with care and support at their Nettlebed Hospice. It seemed a natural choice of charity for this year.”

The race attracts some of the world's best sailors and runners, as well as teams who hope just to complete the course, which is a considerable achievement in its own right. Show your support for Anton in his quest to complete this incredible challenge by going to www.justgiving.com/antonpeaks and sponsoring him online.

Gabriela Potworowksa fundraiser for Sue Ryder Care- Nettlebed Hospice said “By taking part in such a challenge Anton will help raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Care. We care for around 450 different people every year from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and we also support their families. It is thanks to incredible people like Anton that we can continue to provide outstanding care to our local communities.”

Anton has set up a blog of his lead up to the challenge so why not take a look? Simply go the www.Antonpeaks.wordpress.com
