The team is gathering a host of spectacular donations from balloon flights to hotel accommodation, business services to a Vista laptop from PAS IT to be auctioned off at a black tie event in June. The hope is that not only will they raise a stack of cash for the hospice in Longthorpe but that they will beat off the other 14 teams to scoop the award for Charity Entrepreneur of the Year. The Big Wigs challenge pits businesses across Cambridgeshire against each other as they aim to turn a £50 note into as much money as possible with every penny raised going to the charity. Claire Booth, PA to BusinessWatch Group Directors, is organising the BusinessWatch Group team. “The staff are really pulling together in the hope we can raise as much money as possible for such a worthwhile cause,” said Claire. “Some people have taken on individual challenges and, as a team, we’re organising a Black and White Ball which will feature the charity auction. We’ve already been pledged some great prizes and we’re hoping businesses around the city will chip in with more donations.” The auction and ball is set to take place at The Haycock Hotel on Wednesday, June 18. Tickets, priced at £40 per head which includes a three course meal and disco, are available by calling Claire Booth on 01733 239997.
